Universal Orlando is now a multi-park destination that genuinely competes with a full Disney week. Universal Studios Florida puts you inside the movies — Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, The Simpsons, and Despicable Me's Minions all live here. Universal's Islands of Adventure next door stacks the thrill rides: VelociCoaster, the Jurassic Park land, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Seuss Landing, and the Hogsmeade side of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, crowned by Hogwarts Castle.
Epic Universe, which opened in 2025, is the newest gate and the biggest reason to come back if you haven't visited lately — Super Nintendo World, the Wizarding World's Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon's Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe, all arranged around Celestial Park. Volcano Bay covers the water-park day with slides and a lazy river under its signature volcano.
Universal CityWalk ties it together with restaurants, shops, Hard Rock Live, and the Universal Cinemark. On-site hotels like the retro Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, and Loews Royal Pacific Resort add perks such as early park admission — choosing the right one for your ticket strategy is exactly the kind of thing I sort out for you.
Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal Studios Hollywood is built around something Orlando can't offer: a real working movie studio. The Studio Tour rolls you through famous sets and soundstages, with King Kong 360 3-D and Fast & Furious — Supercharged staged along the route.
The park itself packs a lot into a single day. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter recreates Hogsmeade, complete with butterbeer and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey inside the castle. Super Nintendo World brings Bowser's Castle and the interactive Mario Kart ride to life. Jurassic World — The Ride, The Simpsons Ride, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and Transformers round out a lineup that suits every age in the family.
Universal CityWalk Hollywood sits right outside the gates with dining, shopping, the Universal Cinema, and live performances at the Five Towers stage — an easy evening after a park day, and a natural pairing with a broader Los Angeles or Disneyland trip.
Because Hollywood is a one-park destination, it plans differently than Orlando: one well-structured day usually covers it, two if you want to linger in the Wizarding World and Super Nintendo World without rushing.
